Financial Consulting
Project based work built around one defined objective. Build something new, fix something that is not working, improve what exists, investigate what happened, or bring in expertise you do not have on staff.
- Best for
- A defined problem with a beginning and an end.
- Shape
- Fixed scope, fixed fee, agreed timeline.
- Typical
- Six to twelve weeks.
- After
- Some projects hand off to ongoing Financial Management. Many do not.
Sound familiar?
Projects usually start with one of these sentences.
- We are changing accounting systems.
- Our financial processes are not working.
- Nobody owns the close and it shows.
- We need to know what actually happened to this money.
- We need expertise we do not have in house, for three months.
A project is the right shape when the work has an end.
Financial systems
Choosing it, moving to it, getting more out of it.
- 01
Implementation
Select, configure and implement the financial systems and tools the business will actually run on.
- 02
Transition and conversion
Move from one system to another without losing financial history, breaking processes or stopping the month.
- 03
Optimization
Improve the systems, integrations and workflows you already own so they earn what you pay for them.
The other five
Projects that are not about software.
- 01

- 02
Finance function design
Decide what the finance function should look like as the business grows: the processes, the systems, the roles and the structure.
- 03
Business financial consulting
A defined engagement aimed at one financial challenge, opportunity or business need.
- 04
Forensic accounting
Investigate records, transactions, discrepancies or suspected irregularities to establish what actually happened.
- 05
Special financial projects
Specialist expertise or extra capacity for an initiative that sits outside the ongoing work.
A note on forensic work
If you suspect something, say so plainly.
Forensic engagements are handled discreetly and scoped carefully, because the answer matters and so does how it is arrived at. Tell us what you are seeing and what you need to be able to prove or rule out. We will tell you honestly whether this is work for us, for your attorney, or for both.

How engagement works
A clear scope before work begins.

Describe the project.
The more specific you are, the more useful the first conversation is. Tell us what is wrong, what you have already tried, and what a good outcome looks like.

Clarity. Confidence. Control.
Projects with a beginning, a middle and an end.
Fixed scope, fixed fee, an agreed date it is finished.
Answered before you ask.
How is a project priced?
Consulting is built around a defined objective. We agree the scope, price and timeline before the project begins.
How long does a systems conversion take?
The timeline depends on the current system, data and required transition. Discovery comes first, followed by a written plan, execution and handover. Your proposal states the project timeline.
Will I lose data?
Data mapping, migration and validation belong in the project scope. We assess the current records and agree what will move and how it will be checked before a conversion begins.
Can a project turn into ongoing work?
Yes. Financial Management can take on the recurring work after a project, and Financial Advisory can support the decisions that follow. These are scoped separately.
What is forensic accounting used for?
Investigating irregularities, suspected fraud, disputes, misstatements and other financial concerns. The enquiry and scope are handled confidentially.
Do you work with our existing software vendor?
Tell us which vendor and systems you use in the project enquiry. Coordination, access and responsibilities are defined during scoping.
